This page explains what we collect about you, why we collect it, who else can see it, and how long we keep it. It describes what the platform actually does.
1. Who we are
Meligy4Physics is an online physics platform for first- and third-secondary students in Egypt, run by Mr. Ahmed Meligy from Cairo. The website is meligy4physics.com.
To ask anything about this policy — including asking to see, correct, or delete what we hold about you — message us on WhatsApp at +20 121 242 9730.
2. What we collect
When you create an account, you give us your full name; your email address and a password; your phone number; your parent’s or guardian’s phone number and their relation to you; your national ID number; your school; your governorate; and your academic year. The password is stored scrambled and cannot be read by anyone here.
While you study, the platform records which lessons and videos you opened and how much of each video you watched, your quiz answers and marks and how long each attempt took, your homework and attendance, any achievements you earn and your position on the leaderboard, and a nickname and avatar if you choose them. You can switch the leaderboard off for yourself at any time.
When you pay, we record the amount, the method, the date, whether it has been confirmed, and the screenshot you upload as proof of a transfer.
We also record an identifier for the device you use and a short description of the browser and phone it is, together with when it was first and last seen on your account. This exists so that one paid account cannot be shared between several students, and is not used to follow you anywhere else.
On WhatsApp we hold your number and your parent’s, the text of messages sent to and from you, whether a message was delivered and read, and whether you have asked us to stop sending messages.
When you visit the website, cookies are set that remember how you first found us and how you most recently found us — a search, an advert, or a link — which last 180 days and 90 days respectively, together with a sign-in cookie so you do not have to type your password on every page. We may also use analytics and advertising cookies, including those provided by advertising and social media platforms, to understand how the site is used and to measure the advertising that brings students to it.
3. Why we collect it
Your name, email and password exist so you have an account only you can open. Your phone number and your parent’s let us send results and reminders and let Mr. Meligy reach a parent when a student is falling behind. The national ID tells two students with the same name apart and matches a student to their official exam record. School, governorate and academic year put you in the right group and show you the right content. Your videos, quizzes and homework let the platform mark your work, show your progress, and tell Mr. Meligy who needs help. Payment details let a payment be confirmed and the content it paid for be opened. Device details keep one account from being shared. And knowing how you found us tells Mr. Meligy which of his adverts and videos actually bring students.
4. What we do not do
- We never sell, rent, or trade anything about you — not to advertisers, not to other teachers, not to anyone.
- Photos, voice notes and files you send to our WhatsApp number are not kept. Only the text you typed with them is saved, along with the kind of file it was and its name. The file itself is discarded and cannot be recovered.
- We do not use your answers, your work, or your messages to train artificial-intelligence systems.
- We do not ask for or store bank card numbers. Payment is by transfer or in cash, confirmed by a screenshot that a person checks by hand.
5. WhatsApp
There are two WhatsApp numbers. +20 121 242 9730 is the number on the posters; a real person reads and answers it, and that is where to write if you want to talk to somebody. A second, automatic number sends notifications only — session reminders, quiz results, payment confirmations, and the weekly report to parents. Nobody watches its inbox, which is why every message it sends ends by pointing you back at the number above.
When you registered you agreed that we may send these messages to your number and your parent’s number without asking again each time. That agreement is recorded with its date and the exact wording you agreed to.
You can stop the automatic messages at any time. Reply to one of them asking to stop, or send the word “stop”, and the number is marked as opted out; no further automatic message will be sent to it. Telling us in person or on the human number works too.
WhatsApp is operated by Meta Platforms. Messages to and from you pass through Meta’s systems, and Meta’s own privacy terms apply to them there as well as ours here.
6. Who else can see it
Parts of the platform run on services we do not operate ourselves — website hosting, database and file storage, and video delivery. Those providers process only what is needed to do that job, are bound by their contracts with us and by their own privacy terms, and may store data outside Egypt, including in the European Union.
Inside Meligy4Physics, Mr. Meligy and the people who help him teach and follow up can see student records, but each of them only sees what their role allows, and the platform enforces that rather than trusting anyone to be careful.
Beyond that, nobody. We do not give your information to any other company, and we would only hand anything to an authority if the law required it.
7. How long we keep it
Your account and your study record are kept for as long as your account exists; marks and attendance are teaching records and are kept while you are a student. Payment screenshots are deleted automatically after six months, though the payment itself — amount, date, method — stays as a financial record. The text of WhatsApp messages is kept while your account is open, and the raw technical record of them is deleted after 30 days; photos and files sent over WhatsApp are never stored at all. The two visit cookies expire on their own after 180 and 90 days.
8. How it is protected
Everything between your phone and the platform travels encrypted. Access is restricted by role, and the database enforces that one student’s data cannot be read by another. Quiz answers are marked on the server and are never sent to your browser. Video links are signed for a single viewer and expire after an hour.
No platform can promise it will never be broken into. What we can promise is that if it happens and your information is affected, we will tell you rather than keep it quiet.
9. Students under 18, and parents
Most of our students are in their final secondary year and some are under 18. That is why a parent’s or guardian’s phone number is required when an account is created, and why parents receive a weekly report on their child. A parent or guardian can ask what we hold about their child, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for the account and its data to be deleted, by messaging the number in section 1.
10. What you can ask us to do
You can ask us at any time to tell you everything we hold about you, to correct anything that is wrong, to stop sending you WhatsApp messages, or to delete your account and the data in it. Some details you can change yourself from your profile and the rest by asking. Ask on WhatsApp at +20 121 242 9730. If a record has to be kept — a payment, for example, which is a financial record — we will say so and tell you why.
11. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. If a change affects what happens to your information, we will tell you rather than expect you to notice.
